I don’t know about you, but I’ve been counting down the days until the gaming industry drops some epic new titles this year. 2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year for gamers, and I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 must-play games that you absolutely cannot miss. Whether you’re into sprawling RPGs, high-speed action, or a world of magic and mystery, these upcoming releases will blow your mind.

1. The Elder Scrolls VI – Welcome Back to Tamriel

Ah, The Elder Scrolls VI. Let’s just say I’ve been praying to the gaming gods for this one. Bethesda has been teasing us for years, and finally, we get to explore more of Tamriel. This new installment promises to keep the rich storytelling and vast open world we all love about the franchise, but with new twists that have me seriously stoked.

Why You Can’t Miss This Game:

• A Whole New World: We’re talking a whole new region in Tamriel—think skyrim but with different landscapes. The places you’ll explore will be breathtaking, and you’ll get lost in them for hours.

Now, here’s a game that’s got me really excited. Bethesda isn’t just revisiting Tamriel; they’re heading to space. I mean, if anyone can make a space game feel epic, it’s them, right? Starfield promises to be a massive, open-world space adventure, and I’m already prepping for the emotional rollercoaster.

Why You Can’t Miss This Game:

• Space. Everywhere.: We’re talking hundreds of planets, moons, and even space stations to explore. I can’t even keep track of how many there are, but it’s a lot.
• Your Own Spaceship: You know how in most games, you’re just the passenger? Not here. You get to build, customize, and captain your own ship. Cue Captain Kirk fantasies.

A side note: I fully plan to crash my ship into a random planet. Don’t @ me, I’m just testing things out… for science.

3. Hogwarts Legacy – Living the Wizarding Dream

Okay, I know we’ve all wanted this: being a wizard at Hogwarts. Hogwarts Legacy isn’t about Harry Potter, but it’s set in the same magical universe—back in the 1800s, to be exact. Finally, a chance to explore the wizarding world without the pesky young wizard drama. I don’t need another He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named incident, thank you very much.

Why You Can’t Miss This Game:

• Classic Wizardry: Wand-waving, potion-brewing, broom-riding… it’s all there. You get to create your own witch or wizard, attend classes, and explore the magical world as you go.
• Hogwarts & Beyond: Hogwarts isn’t the only place to visit. You’ll get to explore iconic spots like Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and maybe even some hidden corners of the castle (hopefully I don’t get caught sneaking around).
• Totally Customizable Magic: Want to be a master of hexes? Or a gentle healer? It’s all up to you. Go full-on dark wizard if that’s your vibe—or not. Your choices shape your story.

Hogwarts Legacy is for anyone who wanted to live out their magical dreams. And yes, I’m still bitter that I didn’t get my Hogwarts letter. Let’s move on, though, I’m over it… mostly.

4. Final Fantasy XVI – Big Boss Energy

If you’re a Final Fantasy fan, I don’t need to convince you. But here’s why Final Fantasy XVI is something you should be hella excited about: It’s going back to its medieval roots but with modern, action-packed gameplay that’ll make your thumbs work overtime.

Why You Can’t Miss This Game:

• Beautiful Visuals: Final Fantasy XVI is going to look stunning. From the cities to the massive battles, I’m guessing you’ll spend half the time picking your jaw off the floor.
• Action-Packed Combat: Say goodbye to turn-based battles—this game is all about real-time combat that’s actually fun. I can already tell I’m going to lose a good chunk of my weekend trying to master it.

I might need to take a few days off work to play this one. I’ll just “accidentally” schedule a meeting at 3 AM so I can play uninterrupted.
